it has not been so springy because the weather has been just AWFUL. what is this? its snowing like crazy right now! its late march. what in the world?!! :-( buut on the happier end, this break i have had a lot of fun hanging out with friends and going to canananada. yay. here are some pics and a photo journal of the day in canada! sorry the pics got distorted when i put them in this blog. clicking on them will enlarge the photo and give better quality.

one of the days (monday?) i hung out with old high school buddy adrian. we spend the day together. first went shopping as we waited for the right movie times. we watched horton hears a who which is a great, cute movie btw. we went to the lake behind albertsons to feed the duckys and also went to the fish ladder pond. fun but cold! and finally we went to his lovely abode to play ddr. yay! it was nice seeing him. thanks!

now… CANADA!

pris was supposed to come but then called last minute to tell us she forgot about her ortho appointment :-/ so sad. o well maybe next time!

9:30ish: arrived at meesh’s house where alex already was. we waited for gangan and john who were supposed to be there same time but when they were running late, we decided to make a breakfast run to mcdonalds. i got a sausage mcmuffin. yum yum.

1030-1230ish: on our way to canada! it started out clear but then started to pour as we got closer to canada noooo! some pics of our car ride. and then we got to the border control which took like 20 minutes. we also went to exchange some money right after we got past the border. ready to spend some money! oh and it started clearing up. yay!

200ish: we accidentally missed the chinatown exit to eat dimsum so we just ended up going to robson street to find some lunch. we parked and started walking and just picked a random place cuz we were getting hunngry. skies were nice and clear. we ended up picking a thai place. worst pad thai and pad see ew ever! the curry was pretty good. and so was meesh’s dish, but the rest just fell flat. sad. but after we went to this cute lil gelato place. soooo yummy! and then off to our next stop. notice how alex is hella struggling in the last picture trying to carry meesha back to the car haha.

330ish: went to the ferry to take us to granville. haha its more like this tiny shack of a ferry. we were waiting in the cold for the first one for like 10 min and we were the first ones there, but then when it came all these other people got in before us and then it didnt have room for the 5 of us. what the heck?! LAME! so we had to wait for the next one. it was like less than a 5 minute ride haha we should have just swam there jeez.

400ish: on granville island are a bunch of little shops. its like the pike place of canada! it was super cute. we explored the shops and omg all of the pastries and yummy foods! we were so tempted but we had to save up for all-you-can-eat dinner at shabusen later. but then john ended up buying some desserts (thanks dude). yummy cheesecake, this flaky cinnamon roll looking thing, and an eclaire. we sat down at a little eating area. during this time i saw tooons of pigeons outside so i took some crumbs andd…

500ish: i started feeding the pigeons! haha. id throw down a bunch of crumbs and then like 50 pigeons would start flapping towards me. it was a little scary… but then i ran out of crumbs and was sad. especially when i saw seagulls coming by! soo… i ran back in to buy some bread. i bought two sesame buns. i would throw pieces up in the air for the seagulls and i had like 10 of them going after them. they were everywhere! theyd flap their wings like a foot away from me and ya. i would duck anytime they came near me. again a little scary but so much fun. im easily amused and i love feeding animals (just call me the crazy pigeon/squirrel lady haha). i had fun by myself for awhile while the rest of the group sat at our table and talked. then they came out telling me we needed to go. :-( too soon. but i reluctantly left my bird friends. back to the ferry!

600ish: heading back to the car to go to shabusen on granville. it started hailing! but stopped soon after.

700ish: we didnt want to eat till 700 so we went to this clothing store that john knew about. it has american eagle type clothes but even cheaper! everything was so cheap there! me and meesh bought these super cute shirts cuz they were 2 for $10. sweet! and john and alex bought polos for like $10. and gangan bought something too. success! we also stopped by this drugstore cuz we had a tiny bit of extra time. and finnallly… the moment we were all waiting for… SHABUSEN. omg it is just as good as john said. so amazing. sort of todai type restaurant, but like 6 dollars cheaper, fresher, and so much yummier! we got to even grill our own meat. and its not really like buffet tables. you sit at a table, get a menu, and just mark on a sheet what you want and how many. then they just bring it out to you. and you can continue sending in orders whenever you want more of something. this is def a place i will go everytime i make a trip to canada now.

900ish: time to head home! we stopped by the duty free store right by the border. bought toblerones. yummy yummy. the drive back went by sooo fast!

wow that took WAY too long. and its SNOWING LIKE CRAZY RIGHT NOW. sad and we were all supposed to do dinner, movie, bowling today. but the weather is not cooperating. its sticking too :-/ what the heck. this sucks. this is supposed to be SPRING break. not winter…
